After the release of the Trustly Tyr 5.1.1 binaries, all service nodes, exchange points and mining pools will be upgraded to block level 385.824. About 80% of the service nodes have already been updated. Make sure you do the same next week to stay on the right channel.

patches for the newupdate

It is very important to update regularly. The developers have made significant changes to the kernel, Lokinet, their Loki Messenger and the storage server, and are very active on GitHub. We want to compile a list of changes that are mentioned on their pull request (PR). If you want to know more about them, you can check the list of Loki shooters and find them by their PR number.

Core replacement

  • PR #890 – Simplifying get_transfers and recovering from segfaults
  • PR #880 – RPC updates for ed/x25519
  • PR #889 – Changes and fixes in the Ubuntu Xenial build
  • PR #887 – Fixes for Travis CI/build
  • PR #886 – Error corrected when printing version in information messages.
  • PR #882 – The maximum credit period has been extended to 48 hours.
  • PR #881 – Introducing a new test of patch version functionality
  • PR #879 – Operator prompt during installation fixed.
  • PR #877 – Converting the stack request to a mathematical variant with integers
  • PR #874 – The work ticket is not sent until the LokiID receives information from the storage server.
  • PR #873 – Several RandomX simplifications and fixes for Upstream
  • PR #872 – Backporting the quorumnet branch to version 5.x

LokinetUpdates

Many performance improvements and changes to Lokinet have been combined. This allows for better performance scaling, especially on multicore machines. The developers note that further work is needed on Lokinet’s graphical user interface so that desktop users can easily sign in and view their sign-in statistics. The internal structures of Lokinet need to be restructured so that the Lokinet daemon can be reliably controlled by the GUI. The ultimate goal is to use the interface in GUI and CLI tools, so CLI users can manage parts of Lokinet without having to change configuration files.

Other on-demand actions for cable pulling

Here we would like to list some of the other PR activities that the team has done on GitHub.

  • PR #850 – Huge performance improvements such as multithreaded cryptography, public key pinning and multitasking. This pull request is important and will make locinet 0.6.x connections incompatible with 0.5.x.
  • PR #861 – Additional performance enhancements for multithreading
  • PR #856 – Reorganizing cmake to better distribute cmake scripts into multiple directories, and renaming lokinet-rcutil to lokinetctl.
  • PR #857 – You can now get your own address via lokinetctl.
  • PR #863 – Updates and fixes for build support on Ubuntu 16.04
  • PR #862 – Information on the number of known nodes may be exported via rpc.
  • PR# 859 – Windows build fixes, as well as updates that allow the Windows installer to include required utilities.
  • PR #860 – Improvement of code documentation

Herald of Loki and other changes

Here we list the changes made to the different versions of Loki Messenger, as well as the pending updates. You can find takedown requests for the iOS version of Messenger and the Android version.

  • Version 1.0.7 of the Loki storage server has been released.
  • Loki Messenger for desktop updates
    • PR #559 – If entries are detected, check the body of the null message.
    • PR #557 – Custom public chat servers are now up and running and can be connected.
    • PR #558 – Fixed bug that caused the public keys of chat participants not to overflow
  • Loki Messenger for Android/iOS Changes
    • PR #56 (iOS) and #35 (Android) – Mention of version 1
    • PR #57 (iOS) and #33 (Android) – Custom public chat servers are now available.

About the Loki Project

We’ve been talking about all the new updates to the Loki network, so we also wanted to give a brief overview of the project itself. Loki is a private crypto-currency that allows users to make private transactions and communicate privately over the Internet. This is made possible through the use of blockchain technology, which allows Loki to create new secure and anonymous methods of interacting with the Internet. This includes the development of privacy-friendly applications and platforms, such as messaging services, public forums, online marketplaces and social networking platforms.
